Om Mountain

I started this layered landscape collage in a workshop some time ago. It languished under one of my panes of glass on my work table (to keep it flat). I needed a few new pieces to hang at Grand Junction’s City Hall this summer and this fit into a frame I had, so I completed it this week. It was one of my series of soft colored fantasy landscapes based on my surroundings in Western Colorado.
This piece is 21 inches high by 14 inches wide. It is $600.00 framed.

Hi Gayle. Today, I showed the paintings on your website to my students. They could not believe they were made of collaged papers. I also had them take landscapes from their magazine speed searches and come up with three thumbnails of landscape layouts. We talked about high and low HL and how the position of the HL on the paper affects the viewpoint from which we see objects.
They drew simple line drawings on a piece of stretched w/c paper and tomorrow, during a 90-minute period, we’ll start the group landscapes. It should be fun. They are intrigued. Thanks so much for sharing the idea with me. You are very generous.
