Mt. Garfield Area Map-SOLD

This collage is done on a 40 inch by 30 inch wrapped canvas and is the second in a series of Mt. Garfield (the iconic hill of the Bookcliffs near Grand Junction). It was chosen to represent Southwestern Colorado in the Creative Capitol Series sponsored by the Colorado Council on the Arts and is currently […]

Enchanted Forest – SOLD

This piece was my second attempt at a forest collage and it is the one with which I am happiest.  I love that fact that some of the trees on the left side of the painting are actually pictures of asparagus.  This image has been featured on the 2013 Annual Report for UNESCO’s World Heritage […]

Forest Light 2 – SOLD

This is an example of the latest incarnation of my forest collage series. It is done on a 60 inch by 24 inch cradled board and as such doesn’t need framing. It is constructed of photos, found papers, magazine papers, tissue paper, cheesecloth and lots of paint and UV varnish. I wanted to see if […]

Blues Connections – SOLD

I did this collage as a sequel to Havana Serenade. I was intrigued by the theme of musicians and wanted to see if I could keep on making meaningful art based on this theme. It just evolved from no particular source material. Although, I must cite the work of Romare Bearden as my inspiration. This […]

Buffalo Gal – SOLD

This was a commission that I did for a good friend who is a dedicated horsewoman. I used pictures of horses to depict her long curly hair. This was done from a photo reference.

Collage Self Portrait Number One

My first attempt at a self portrait in collage came as the result of an assignment that I gave one of my collage classes at the Art Center. It was juried into the First Frontier Collage Society National Show in 2005. I did another collage self portrait in 2009 which is included in the profile […]

Complementary Lady – SOLD

Well, this collage has an interesting history. It started out as a watercolor of a seabed–fairly abstract. As such it was juried into a local exhibition of “contemporary” art. It hung around my studio for a while. Then I discovered a new technique in a workshop I attended with Joanne Ruggles. It involves drawing with […]

Havana Serenade SOLD

This piece was a class demonstration on using connecting geometrics. It took on a life of its own as another rumination on our Cuban experiences. I am sure it means something profound—but to me it is a celebration of the Cuban people and their music. This piece is part of the collection of a popular […]

Family – NFS

I did this collage to see if I could successfully do portrait collages. This piece depicts my son and his family. I incorporated my grand-daughter’s artwork, my son’s artwork, many photos of the family at various points in their lives. The reference for this was a photo from a holiday card.
